THE PRINTING

Delivering consistent quality and awe-inspiring images

When it comes to displaying my work, I always look to source the highest quality printing, mounting and framing methods to ensure that all prints, meet incredibly high standards and perfectly convey the subject matter.

This is why I have chosen to partner with some of the world’s leading experts for photograph printing, mounting and framing that serve to do my work the best possible justice.

The printing process

For image printing, I work exclusively with Los Angeles-based, BowHaus in California who produce all of my images. BowHaus are highly regarded in the industry for their artistic and technological approach to archival pigment prints, working with America’s top galleries and some of the most recognised contemporary photographers in the world.

Their distinctive printing methods use state-of-the-art technology that surpasses machine operated digital printing and traditional dark-room processes; allowing them to use bespoke allocations of the 12 ink cartridges within the Canon drum.

They have a team of highly skilled professionals to ensure every step of the print process is executed expertly. With pre-printing, they have expert craftsman who carefully prepare the raw camera films to deliver consistent tonal renditions and powerful contrasts, even with the very large print. While each image is printed on 315gsm Hahnemühle photo rag Bartya paper and varnished to produce a wonderful sheen and better endurance.

The Mounting and Framing

The final stage of preparing my images for exhibition and display is the mounting and framing process, which also plays a vital role in the depiction of my images. For this reason, once again I choose long-term, trusted suppliers to ensure consistent quality is met.

For mounting, I partner with Fulham-based Genesis Imaging who first crafted the cloth mount system. Having been in partnership since 2000, together we have developed the space, skills and expertise to produce frames for my large-scale photographic pieces that can go up to 3 metres. It is their skill and dedication to high quality mounting that has seen my photography hung in numerous prestigious exhibitions.

The same due care and attention is also paid to the framing process, which is carried out by Amsterdam’s Frame Products. They have been a long-term partner of mine in Continental Europe, since they crafted the frames for my first solo presentation of works such as Mankind in Amsterdam.

As experts in their field, they are renowned for their quality of craftsmanship, skills, innovation and ability to accommodate customised solutions. With an impressive range of frame collections, including wood and aluminium, they are also specialists in art-handling, worldwide shipping and storage, which makes them the ideal choice for a number of professional artists, photographers and galleries worldwide.

THE MOUNTING AND FRAMING

Alex’s prints are all mounted and framed in a quality that befits the print. Mounts are hand-made and finished with a single piece of white cotton cloth. All prints framed worldwide are consistent with this style.

* We endeavor to frame locally where possible and have a number of trusted framers in the US. Prints can be purchased unframed upon request.
